Glen Gauthier

I create works in collage by hand from my Chicago studio, utilizing ephemera from old magazines, books, manuals, and photos as well as documents from my late aunt's south Louisiana insurance agency.

The eclectic nature of old books, brochures, images and documents that reveal the passage of time, help to inform my work. These bits and pieces that have been stuck in the dark, aging on shelves and collecting dust, are uncovered and combined, giving them new life. With them I create works that travel through decades past, present and future. This handmade, layered time travel serves as a central theme in my work.

I meticulously create my art using cut and glued bits of paper to construct a new reality.
