Jean Denison

Born in South Africa. Raised in the foot-hills of Kwazulu Natal, a very rural and natural upbringing close to wildlife and local traditions. Studied at art school Durban and then fashion design at Tshwane University of technology. Went on to study medical illustration which has had a profound influence on my work which is mostly figurative / realism. Pen and ink illustrations in excruciating detail. Inspiration comes from everything, studying people especially. who are appreciated as subject matter with a contempory twist. we love a little humour, a bit of the macabre and surprize.

Attended art school in Durban.and went on to study fashion design. An oportunity arose to study medical illustration a year later. Continued to paint and draw with exhibitions and private commissions.
