Early career was with the world famous fishing tackle company Hardy Bros. At the time fly fishing for trout was an equal love to painting

A Northumbrian artist, he paints landscapes of Northumberland, Scotland and The Lake District.A traditional artist he tries to portray something of himself and his love of the landscape into his paintings. Joe often goes walking in the countryside watching as the light transforms the landscape.Pastoral scenes,woodland interiors or mountain peaks all are painted with a feeling from the heart but Joe is not a slave to the landscape, he takes from it what he wants,as he paints he allows his memories and feelings equal measure to the actual scene.To this day he still remains mesmerised as he sees the scene begin to materialise on the paper or canvas.
