Jovana Knezevic Brankovic

Jovana Brankovic born in 1989. Belgrade, Serbia.

The whole cycle of art works I dedicated to ''our best friends''-books. The same books for which we traded nights for mornings, the same books which are older than us, whose scent crawled up under our skin. The same books which made us question ourselves , and whose words left us speechless. I paint the mark through time, beauty and decrepitude reflected on their covers.I see them as portraits of wise men whose expressions tell a thousand words. They are of different sizes, shapes, structures, colors and themes; each being an individual, each telling their story through time. Whether a poem, a story, a tale or a novel a book lives every time someone picks it up, it is written for us. In these times of internet people rarely have time for books. I attempted to create books which you will be able to read long enough that with each glance you reveal something new, without having to flip through pages. I hope that at least some of you will em bark with me on this journey of wisdom and beauty gifted to us by painting and literature.
