Margit Pendelin was born in Schwerte / Ruhr in 1964 and is self-taught. After learning to draw with Betty Edwards' method, in which the right brain hemisphere is activated, she copied old masters in oil, also painted photo-realistically for a while and finally found her own distinctive painting style in 1998.
Her painted star portraits were exhibited in Eltville and Bad Homburg and enthusiastically
received by the public. With her depictions of Rihanna, Pharrell Williams, Agynes Deyn and many other celebrities from art and culture, Margit Pendelin continues the development of portrait painting according to Andy Warhol and Alex Katz in a new form.
In her idiosyncratic way of painting, Pendelin deliberately dispenses with any form of brushstroke as a stylistic device and shows us her own unmistakable visual language, in which masterful composition, precision and color clarity are convincing. Lines and surfaces vie for dominance in the picture and yet always end up in a surprisingly constructive
juxtaposition.
