Marilina Marchica

Biography
Marilina Marchica (b. 1984, Agrigento, Italy) is a visual artist who lives and works in her hometown. She graduated in Painting from the Academy of Fine Arts in Bologna and studied at the Polytechnic University of Valencia. Her work has been exhibited in solo and group shows throughout Italy, including FAM Gallery, San Sebastiano Contemporary, Spazio Hus, and major art fairs like Roma Arte in Nuvola. Marchica's artworks are included in both public and private collections in Italy and abroad.

Artist Statement
Marilina Marchica’s artistic research explores the relationship between memory, landscape, and time. Through a process of subtraction and abstraction, she focuses on the material and symbolic traces left on architectural forms and fragile territories. Walls, ruins, and eroded surfaces become metaphors for human presence and absence—signs that silently reveal the transformation of places. Her practice moves between painting, mixed media, and installation, often incorporating ancient papers, textures, and pigments that evoke a poetic archaeology of space.
