I work with ferrous cement, a blend of white Portland cement, marble dust, sand, colour pigment and other fibers, this mix is then applied directly to metal armature or cast from clay models.
My work attempts to distil and freeze in time a moment of emotional expression captured in form. I work from the inside out, matching internal narratives with outward postures. Or from the outside in – observing people and reflecting their stories back.
The ruggedness of this material often contrasts with its thematic content, strength, and fragility. The texture of the work is a key aesthetic, while also altering limbs - to enable figures to appear both realistic and surreal. I hope the viewer attaches to the familiar and be curious by elements that may not seem to fit.
I have exhibited both international and in Ireland, participating in over 30 curated exhibitions including Surveyor, Solstice Arts Center, Navan 2023, “Hover- Still”, Malta Society of Arts, Valletta, Malta 2023, “Art enriches Life” The Narrow Space Gallery Clonmel 2023, Easter Snow Gallery, Seamus Ennis Art Center, Naul 2021, Sculpture in Context 2021. “Sea She Sees” Maritime Museum Malta 2018.
I have had solo exhibitions in both Malta in 2019 “Flight (and other stories)” Lily Aguis Gallery, and “The illusion of permanence “Java Gallery, Phnom Penh Cambodia 2012. I lived in both countries for many years
I have received support from The Arts Council of Ireland receiving the Agility Award in 2022 and funding from local County Council Professional Development Award in the same year.
I was awarded a commission entitled “The Docker” for the Drogheda Port Company in 2021. Her work has been featured in the Irish Arts Review 2021.
I graduated from Marino Technical College in 1997 Dublin Institute of Technology (Sheet metal and welding)
