My interest in drawing goes back to early childhood when I saw my father prepare technical drawings to design buildings. He allowed me to use his pencil and paper to trace drawing from books and magazines.
Drawing was my natural skill and being trained in architecture, I produced drawing which were meaningful and controlled. I had great satisfaction to express myself in built environment and designed many buildings, interiors and furniture. But the drawing I produced for design are confined in sketch book and tracing paper.
When I moved to computer graphics the need for hand-drawing was greatly diminished. It was painful to watch the shift as the new generation of students were seriously hooked to digital solution and showed reluctance to learn traditional skills. It was this time some two decades back when I was certain that freehand drawing had been losing its appeal in professional education, I started using my techniques to draw abstract forms.
A pure line is so beautiful to create on paper. It connects so many points on its path. It has no specific length- it can be very tiny and very long- very thin and very thick- very light and very dark. It is my joy to discover it all the time.
