John Vesty

Born in Manchester I now live in France. My work is mostly in oil, and largely but not exclusively, representational. One of the reasons for moving to East Anglia in 1999 was my love of landscape painting. Ironically since coming to Norfolk I have reverted to still life . Selecting simple forms and with a restricted palette, I seek to reveal something of the essential qualities of objects by placing them in unfamiliar and sometimes incongruous juxtaposition; the results are not without occasional tongue in cheek. Painting the human figure also holds an ever greater interest for me these days, for it has within it not only form colour and tone but the added dimension of a great emotional range.
