Rhonda Whitehead

Born Sydney Australia 1950 trained at the Royal College of Art, early career in Kinetics, with architect husband, David. First one person exhib. 1975 have had 31 more since that date here and abroad. The critics Valdemar Januszczak, Margaret Garlake, Sarah Kent, Marina Vaizey, William Packer, to mention a few,have all written enthusiastically about my work. Recently won 1st prize for the Byard Open exhibition, Cambridge. Recent paintings since 2003 are as much influenced by modes of abstraction as they are by weathering patterns in Italian city buildings. Solid areas of warm, earth (mid toned) colours are a contrast to earlier work inspired by scouring patterns in nature in the 'Rock Series' and aqueous transparent colours in the 'Water Series'
