Byron Freire Alvarez (b. 1981) is an artist who works in Barcelona, Spain. After graduating from the Faculty of Fine Arts in Barcelona with a specialty in painting, Freire's pictorial work addresses the portrait of migrants, reflecting the stories and faces of those who - like him - left their country in search of a better life. Through figurative oil painting, he seeks to create a visual memory about migration, identity and belonging.
He has exhibited in numerous collective exhibitions in Barcelona, at the Faculty of Barcelona, as well as at the Institute of Culture of Barcelona La Capella, his work has been selected in numerous painting competitions in Spain. Freire's work is collected in the U.S. and Europe.
