Cecco Mariniello was born in Siena in 1950 and he lives in Florence.
Since the late seventies he began an intense activity as illustrator. He collaborated with various newspapers and journals. At the same time he worked in children books publishing, illustrating classics or the works of well known contemporary authors as well as his own stories.
All along he pursued a more intimate artistic research in the field of painting to which he would devote more and more of his time from the end of the 1990s. He developed his painting into two main directions: the Opere buffe, a series of poetic watercolours in small format with surrealistic comic tones and le Opere serie, oil canvases in medium and large formats.
His path crosses some of the artistic experiences of the 20th century like Metaphysics, Surrealism and Magic Realism. It is in the wake of these experiences that the original poetics of the Opere serie will develop, where spaces and figures from the painter’s memory meet and merge with myth and ancient memory.
He attended the Faculty of Architecture in the early 1970s in Florence and took drawing and engraving classes at the Academy of Fine Arts.
He has repeatedly exhibited at the Nuages Gallery in Milan and at the Babele Gallery in Florence.
He exhibited at the Italian Institute of Culture in Montreal, at the Galerie du Marais in Paris, at the Cubet Gallery in Milan, at the Arké Gallery in Locri and the Mantegna space in Milan.
