Iryna Somyk-Ponomarenko

Iryna Somyk-Ponomarenko, born in 1974 in Kyiv, Ukraine.
During 1996 – 2001, Iryna studied at the department of Technology and Restoration of Art Works of the National Academy of Fine Arts and Architecture in Kyiv, Ukraine.
Since 2003, Iryna Somyk-Ponomarenko has been teaching Technique of Easel Painting , Copy of Easel Painting and Restoration of Easel Painting at the Department of Technique and Restoration of Art Works, the National Academy of Fine Arts and Architecture in Kyiv, Ukraine.
In 2003 – 2004 the artist participated in the creation of classical-style paintings for the reproduction of the Castlehyde mansion in Ireland. Also, in 2008, 2009 she created copies of Ukrainian historians’ portraits for the Portrait Gallery in the Palace of Cyril Rozumovsky (Baturin National Reserve «Hetman's Capital», Ukraine). During 2017-2018 Iryna Somyk-Ponomarenko has been the manager of the Project on copies-reconstructions of the Reverends of Kyiv-Pechersk for the Trapezna Church of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra.
