Marius Seidlitz

Marius Seidlitz, born 1985 in Erfurt / Germany, addresses the complexity of the demands on the self in his colourful works. What is beauty? Is there perfection? How much does the unmistakable self be denied in order to find any recognition? Seidlitz's artistic work/painting is formally diverse: from his craftsmanship as an engraving master as well as by the precise approach to design and the free-creative use of spray technology. His expressive images often originate from diverse women's bodies, which are deliberately imperfectly depicted. The viewer sees colourful curves, multi-layered nudity in all the glaring contradictions – between attraction and repulsion. But always multidimensional, always dynamic and never too precise. Because beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Intricate bodies, hinted limbs and lips sink into color-intensive surfaces and dynamic lines. With acrylic paint and spray paint, Seidlitz puts the self and how it presents itself on the test bench. In his works there are no 1A noses and no retort breasts, but the versatility of the imperfect.
