Artist statement

My work finds its verse in memories. Memories of my days at my grandmothers tea estate, nestled between the mountains in a tiny village called Darang, in Kangra, Himachal Pradesh, a state in Northern India.
It is my spiritual home today that renders my aesthetic.

Life has taken me to many countries where I have lived and worked but I’ve always felt like something was amiss, I have always longed for the hills and it’s taken me a lifetime to realise that my childhood home never left me. The feeling of being there are my deepest roots that I call home. It is a land that I have loved completely and thoroughly. Although some of the people who brought me into that love are no longer present, the feeling of love remains, their energy remains and their teachings remain. In a sense I want to capture that giving, that love, that feeling of contentment, of plenty, of peace and harmony. The sunshine and the rain, the winds and the storms, the peace but above all the solitude. Once you understand that, you understand everything.
