Gregory Desgouttes

French-american artist based in Los Angeles. musician, director and painter.
I grew up in Paris and New York. Influenced by jazz and abstract expressionists.
Living in California, colors permeate my work. It's an exploration of senses that reflects my journey and the world around me, looking for harmonies and beauty in the chaos.
Using mainly acrylic on canvas and sometimes paper and pastels my work reflect my values: of resilience, having lived in 3 major and very diverse cities, experienced different art scenes and energies at different time; of harmony with careful compositions and colors manifesting our complicated relationship to nature made of harmony and chaos; and lastly of authenticity:
in a world so vast, so fast so carefully constructed through screens and perfect pictures of idealistic surroundings, painting becomes an antidote, marking a pause in a perpetual present of well crafted newsfeed and stories by presenting a fixed image that is tangible, a surface in space and time. My work often cites past masters with an authentic and personal style.
