Verónica Penagos Gallart

I conceive art as a flexible practice in eternal process, from which my limits mutate.
In my artistic practices I try to expand my body perception. Thus, through various visual and performative means, I seek to notice myself as a body that becomes constantly interdependent with the movement that surrounds me.
Much of my work has revolved around dance; above all, genres with a mixed sound, such as salsa. I like to be part of salsa environments since the codes change, the evaluations mutate and the language becomes purely corporal.
Thus, art becomes an incitement to delve deeper into the idea of being a body in continuous evolution, intertwined along lines with the events of the world. Which involves understanding myself from practices that allow me to obtain an embodied, situated and dynamic view by noticing the multiplicity of my experience.

Self-trained visual artist. Master in Research in Art and Design from the University Center for Design and Art of Barcelona (EINA) and the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB), Spain, and a degree in Architecture and Urban Planning from the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru (PUCP). Today she works as a painter and multidisciplinary artist in Lima, Peru.
