Shingo Iwano

I am a Japanese calligrapher with over 10 years of experience, having studied both traditional and contemporary styles. In addition to calligraphy, I like surfing, photography, and street art, which all influence my creative work.

Currently, I am creating a series of wave-inspired works rooted in the expressive lines of calligraphy, exploring the dynamic connection between ink, water, and movement.

Started photography in 2008, focusing on surfing and landscapes. In 2015, experienced diverse art and surf culture during a stay in the U.S., and began practicing calligraphy after returning to Japan. Launched the YouTube channel “namiuchigiwach” in 2021, centered on coastal themes. Since 2025, creating original works inspired by the lines of calligraphy and the sea.
