Roezetta Crampton

My work is a reflection of my deep connection to the natural world and the diverse cultures that inspire me. Growing up on the tropical island of Fiji, I was immersed in a vibrant culture that celebrated community, simplicity, and beauty.

My artistic journey has been shaped by my experiences as a jewellery designer, spanning 26 years, and my travels to 32 countries. The breathtaking landscapes, architectural styles, and traditional crafts of these places have influenced my unique aesthetic.

In particular, my repeated visits to Bali, where I've watched the same sunset over 60 times, have instilled in me a sense of wonder and awe. The island's lush rice fields, intricate furniture designs, and rich cultural heritage have all found their way into my art.

My artistic style is highly whimsical, characterized by sinuous curves, fluid lines, and bold, outspoken forms. I delight in pushing boundaries and challenging conventional norms, creating art that is both visually striking and thought-provoking.

I invested in tufting equipment and spent a year teaching myself. To refine my skills, I later took a formal course. Interestingly, I discovered that my self-taught techniques, developed through trial and error, had become an integral part of my unique artistic voice.
