Art Van Kraft

Art Van Kraft is an American artist specializing in abstract realism and figuration. He is currently based in Los Angeles, California. Always fascinated by art, he pursued the subject academically at the University of Southern California and at the Paris American Academy. He was accepted into the Los Angeles Art Association in 2015.

From writing to painting

Kraft’s content-driven paintings reflect his former occupation as a News Director for National Public Radio in Southern California. Kraft prides himself on being a storyteller, previously expressing himself through words, now with his paintings. The medium has changed but his stories remain the same: he paints the human condition, our personal identity and desires.

Everything is not as it seems

Kraft depicts bold paintings of people in environments that exude the energy of uneasiness and distortion. He is an instinctual painter, using a generic idea as a foundation, finishing the rest with intuition. He uses strong, vivid colours to develop his orchestra of images, combining the role of being a social observer with his natural artistic skill.
