Alan Falk

Alan Falk has been passionate about creating art since he was 12 years old. At 16 he was admitted to the Manchester College of Art where he studied painting and printmaking under the guidance of Norman Adams (later to become the Keeper at the renowned Royal Academy Schools) and he received his B.A. in Fine Arts. Two years after graduating, Alan was awarded the prestigious Granada Fellowship in Fine Arts at the Institute of Advanced Studies at Manchester Polytechnic. He taught at several colleges of art in England and was represented by the Piccadilly and New Art Center galleries in London. During this time he participated in many group exhibitions and art fairs in the UK and Europe including the first British Drawing Biennale; the Kunsterner Hus National Museum, Oslo, Norway the Royal College of Art, London, and the International Art Fair, Basel, Switzerland. Alan marked his arrival in the US in 1974 with a two person show with Sonia Delauney at the Edna.P Gurewitsch gallery in NYC. His second show at the gallery was with Will Barnet. Alan struck up a life-long friendship with Will, who became Alan's mentor.
