Alban Lanore

Alban Lanore (b. 1966, FR) is a French artist who creates stunning abstract sculptures from burnt wood. His works are a reflection of his deep connection with nature and his ability to transform its raw materials into breathtaking, one-of-a-kind artworks. His radical shapes carved from sections of natural tree trunk and then charred using similar techniques to the Japanse Shou Sugi Ban.

Alban Lanore was born in Paris in 1966. He works and lives
in Touraine, away from the artistic world. He develops there,
in total freedom, his art practice apart from art movements.
Amazed by the beauty and richness of the forests, Alban drawn inspiration to another way of creation. Important encounters punctuated is sculptor background, the first one that he met as a teenager, was Jean-Jacques Popille, well know from the art brut amateurs, then Frans Krajcberg an aredent defender on the nature preservation and writer alongside Pierre Restany of the manifesto ‘’Manifeste du Naturalisme Intégral’’, that encourage him in his path, and then Vincent Batbedat who brought him to a constructed art practice.
