Alex DiMercurio, is a French-born artist based in Wellington, New Zealand. She has recently garnered national acclaim for her unique artistic voice, which seamlessly merges elements of post-impressionism, fauvism, and abstract realism. With a career spanning over 20 years, she has built meaningful connections with curators and collectors globally, steadily earning her place in the contemporary art world.

DiMercurio's work is a profound exploration of nature's inherent beauty, rendered through a distinctive painterly style that combines bold textural impasto paint with fluid translucent brushwork. Celebrated for her unique colour palette and dynamic interplay of light and shadow, each work invites viewers into an immersive experience, encouraging a deeper contemplation of the natural world and the ephemeral passage of time.

Renowned for her award-winning treescapes, DiMercurio captures the essence of nature's interconnectedness with a blend of energy, nostalgia, and serenity. Alex graduated from Massey University in Wellington, New Zealand in 2002, and has more recently studied fine arts at private art schools in France including Studio Escalier in Paris and the Cannes Beaux Arts institute.

Notably, in 2019 she realised her lifelong artistic aspirations of studying in Montmartre Paris and had the privilege of painting within the historic faculty residence of Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec where his friend Vincent van Gogh would often frequent and share the art studio together.

During her six-month residency in Paris, she also devoted herself to weekly artistic visits at the Louvre, which is a treasure-trove of art history. And where she engaged herself in intensive drawing and immersive study sessions alongside the masters of classical, neo-classical, Hellenistic, Renaissance, and Baroque art.
