Born in Varkaus, Finland, 1954
I am a Finnish visual artist. I live in Niva, a small village outside Joensuu city in eastern Finland,
near the border of Russia.
Anne Pehkonens work is conceptual and often narrative in form. It involves image, text, sound, installations and interventions, as well as collaborative projects.
In her work, questions related to identity and the different strategies we acquire to define ourselves in relation to others and our Environments are repeatedly explored.
In her new works she uses voice-overs in combination with moving images or constructed situations to create multi-layered narratives.
The stories told, fictional and documentary, are related to what you see, but also the situation you are in while listening.
