Anthony Vandertuin

Based in Toronto, Canada, Anthony creates bold figurative and landscape paintings. Working in multiple layers and sessions, he creates works that go beyond the literal, creating something more compelling - somewhat abstract yet familiar. His paintings combine a love of drawing with abstract and textural deconstructed elements.

The paintings explore the human condition and its universal expressions. Each piece creates a narrative that is different and personal to each viewer. Through abstraction, the pieces are less about who the subjects are than the emotional connection they make. Featuring bold, expressive brushwork abstracted from their original source photos or simply imagined, the works draw the viewer in to an emotional response.
