Anton Goldenstein

I was born in Johannesburg in 1975 and moved to Britain when I was 11.

As a child I was fascinated by African-European intercultural aesthetics, which shaped my early aesthetic experience. I am interested in the banality of everyday experience and the part which ideas of the zeitgeist, the hegemony media, biology and notions of globalization and the superstructure play in affecting our ideas, history and future of our daily lives.
My work concerns itself ostensibly with media and consumer culture, human-ideals, aspirations and exploits as well having a keen interest in social-political-biological and art histories. Much of my practice incorporates animals, I am interested in amongst other things mans relationship with other animals.
Often I incorporate and combine disparate objects and imagery supplied by a rich multi-cultural society which a postmodern, globalised and culturally confused world enables.
