Juan Shi, a Chinese-British artist, began her artistic journey at age three, driven by a passion for drawing and painting people. Initially self-taught, her gift earned early recognition in group exhibitions and competitions, including winning third place in a prestigious competition. Since 2012, Juan has embarked on an artistic rediscovery, exploring workshops in London and abroad, including a Tempera Painting Techniques workshop in Florence. She also completed jewellery making training, with her coursework to be showcased on the college’s website. In 2022, Juan received the Hertford Art Society's Enid Fairhead Award for her oil painting, "Head Study." Driven by a desire to bring life on canvas, Juan's art blends realism and classical techniques. Her pursuit of excellence led her to the Angel Academy of Art in Florence, where she honed her skills in the Four-Week Intensive Course on Portrait Paintings under the guidance of Maestro Michael John Angel and Jered Woznicki. She is currently enrolled in the Academy’s rigorous three-year Diploma Programme, continuing her in-depth training in classical drawing and painting techniques. Inspired by Renaissance and 19th-century painting, as well as hyper-realistic oil portraits, Juan's creative evolution continues to unfold. Beyond her artwork, Juan's diverse interests in volunteering, hiking, playing piano, and spirituality enrich her work with depth and perspective.
