ARTIST STATEMENT – Jacqueline Drake I has been a mixed media and fine artist since 2001. I became an encaustic artist in 2012. Using a uniquely intuitive process, I am able to create beautiful art on canvas and wood. With my extensive knowledge of colors and textures combined with my healing arts back ground, I am able to produce a total sensory experience for my viewers. After having success early on in my art career as a muralist and commissioned artist, I recognized that there was a vital part of myself missing from the work. I was creating what other people wanted and needed and it was during this time that I was led to study under many masters in the intuitive and meditative healing arts. Combining these techniques with natural artistic talent has allowed my work to represent a true expression of my heart and soul. My art work is a visual representation of my connection with the divine and my willingness to allow intuition to guide my pallet and brush. By studying and using the the principles of EBD in my work. (Evidence Based Design- the theory of looking at real art helps heal )and having a background in the healthcare system, it has given me a better understating of what is needed to create an environment that promotes healing and wellness. My large installations are filled with light, and peaceful serene nature scenes and sculpted on canvas which gives them an impasto effect. They have been known to portray many healing attributes, that one may need for healing an inner peace. Because of these specific qualities my work is sought after by many hospitals ,healthcare facilities ,galleries and private collections and public collections around the world – USA, UK, CANADA, JAMAICA. Private Collections: MI, WI, TX, FL, CA, IL and Public Collections: Michaels, St. Joseph’s – Pontiac (Presidential Collection Award), Providence Hospital (Best of Show: Nancy A. Fox Gallery – in Providence Novi). And I am currently working on a large triptych insulation for Henry Ford Hospital, Wyandotte, MI . It is through my work and my artistic expression that I want others experience that inner peace and divine connection. My passion for the healing arts has inspired me to give healing art workshops and talks and lectures through out the community.
