I am a painter in both oils and acrylics based in the UK and work from my studio in East Sussex. Central to my work is a love of painting water, and recently contemporary landscapes, making a vivid, semi-abstract link with the organic world. I use a strong combination of intense colour and texture to build paintings by layer into an emotive whole, with the aim of engaging the viewer with the majesty of nature and a desire to preserve the world in which we live. In my own paintings I try to merge, in a contemporary sense, something about locations and places in the world that I have had the experience of visiting, or feel there’s an urgency to preserve.  Visual beauty has its origins in the natural world and I love conveying this via traditional painting techniques. I was raised in the far east, later returning to the south of England. I spent earlier years painting the British 'summer' in natural colours, of water scenes (gardens, parks, canals and ponds). I have exhibited widely in the south-east and London and have work in public and numerous private collections in the UK, the USA including NY, France, the Netherlands, Canada, Denmark and Kazakhstan.
