About the Artist

Mike Story

South Africa

I am a Freelance Commercial Photographer based in Cape Town South Africa.I have been in the business of Photography since 1977.I began my career assisting a top London College of Photography and Printing graduate Photographer named Mike Robinson.Mike had relocated to Johannesburg South Africa having completed his studies in London. He had specialized in Fashion Photography and Printing. On arrival he decided to pursue Studio Photography instead of Fashion. He specialized in bottle photography mainly alchohol and perfume and became a leader in his chosen field.I learned the art of lighting as well black and white printing during my tenure with him.We also photographed food as well as Cars in Studio and on location.I spent 2 years with him and then joined a public relations company called Group Editors as a junior photographer. Our work consisted of mainly corporate and press photography as well as printing for press releases.I spent 18 months with the team and eventually left at the age of 21 to start my freelance career.I took on anything that was available at the time and eventually established my own studio in Johannesburg South Africa.I ran a successful Commercial business specializing in Advertising,Studio and Architectural work. I moved to the UK in 1985 to gain some further experience in the field of Advertising.I spent a year there and then returned to South Africa.I am now based in Cape Town South Africa where I continue with my work.My photography is now more of my own personal work which is an eclectic mix of varying different genres.I enjoy all of the different mediums of photography and am so grateful that I am as passionate now as when I first set off on this journey. My joy of photography continues
