David Obeng Adane is a Ghanaian-born contemporary artist. He holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Ceramics from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology. His mastery of art is showcased through his ability to harness different kind of materials such as clay to create works of art. For David, the process of crafting a piece, from conceptualization to final finish, is akin to a dialogue between the material and his inner thoughts. Each piece David creates, tells a unique story, reflecting personal experiences and broader societal themes. His works often explore themes of identity, cultural heritage, and human connection, drawing inspiration from his diverse background and the rich tapestry of traditions that have shaped his worldview. His works are characterized by intricate patterns and modelled features on both organic and regular forms that showcase a rich blend of traditional techniques and contemporary ideas. Beyond the studio, David is committed to engaging with local communities through workshops, exhibitions, and collaborative projects. He believes that sharing knowledge and experiences enriches both the artist and the audience, creating a vibrant and dynamic art culture. His objective is to push the boundaries of Ghanaian contemporary art, experimenting with modern techniques and materials while grounded in traditional African philosophies and ideals. His vision is to contribute to the ongoing dialogue within the art community, challenging perceptions, creating an intersection of indigenous concepts and contemporary interpretations and adaptations, and inspiring others to view art as a dynamic and evolving form of human endeavour. Under ceramic art, he aims to enrich his grasp of ceramics' technical and conceptual dimensions, immerse in intensive artistic research, and cultivate a unique artistic voice while inspiring others to explore the beauty and possibilities of this enduring art form. David has exhibited his works both in Ghana and Nigeria. He enjoys taking long walks in scenic natural environments during his leisure time. He currently lives and works in Accra, Ghana.
