My name is Jose Carlos Bassini. I was born in Castelo, a city in the south of the state of Espírito Santo (Brazil). I lived my childhood at Fazenda Barra Seca, north of Espírito Santo, district of the city of São Mateus. Part of my youth was spent in Colatina and Linhares, cities in the north of the state of Espírito Santo. Linhares is the city where I have lived for over 50 years. I'm a small business owner. I am a furniture manufacturer. I am also a sheep farmer. I'm 67 years old. Over my last 40 years, I have been building my arts. My arts are black and white drawings, for this reason, I usually call my art collection “FREEHAND BLACK LINES”. My collection carries my story as a salesman of agricultural machinery, in my youth, and later, as a furniture manufacturer and sheep farmer. In moments of tension, in these areas of my work, I stop and start to dream forms that I put on paper, in this delight, my tensions calm down and put me back in the direction of work, as a manager of my industry and my other tasks. Also in my house, the behavior is the same. My studio is my office in my firm or room in my house. Even so, I have a little room for a few moments of my designer leisure
I am self-taught and a simple lover of my art. I never took a course. I started to develop my work in my youth, when, out of necessity of survival, I became a machine salesman. As I said in "about me", while answering phone calls, I kept drawing in my diary, until the day someone told me to draw on the appropriate sheet and make a catalog for my drawing. Following the advice, I continued my drawings. There are more than 3500 pieces built over more than 40 years. A few little ones, I framed and keep in my house. Some, also few, I distributed to reserved friends, who were delighted when they saw them. But the others are kept in my house. All without pretensions. I did my arts, for the pleasure of doing them. I never thought about showing and selling. It was in the middle of 2022 that family members started to make my head to show my work and put it up for sale. So I started my exhibition of 500 pieces as NFT on the Opensea portal.
My works are made of black lines on white paper. The paper has A4 format (210mm x 297mm) and weight of 180g/m2. Obeying this format, the paper's trademark is the one available in the square. As for ink, the material used is CD/DVD pens and markers, permanent black, felt tip, as available in the city, regar...
I'm not professional artist. In my artistic amateurism, over more than 40 years, I have systematically produced freehand drawings. There are more than 3500 arts. In this year 2022, I decided to present my work. My first exhibition was the availability of 500 NFT in the JCB FREE HAND ARTS collection (https://opensea.io/collection/untitled-collection-383531465 ). And now I'm launching the collection, with 200 or more pieces, at www.saatchiart.com
