Kate Hollett

I am Canadian.

Born an artist, raised an artist, mother, painter, in PR, and father in Advertising, and cartoonist. Went to school for art, worked in commerical art until such time as I was independant and able to not starve. I work from the wisdom and experience of my life, but most importantly from the heart and soul.

I create a visual language, integrating both words and visual elements to create a separate way of communicating. I take universal concepts, words, and deconstruct them into simple individual components. Using abstract interpretation I break down meaning, discovering a deeper understanding of that what words can mean. At the same time, thje effect of my work promotes ownership of thought. In this way, what I am trying to do is see not read meaning.

I am inspired by artists that have created a new way of seeing, like Picasso and Warhol. I admire artists that create a p[ath to themselves, ratehr than follow a path. This is my way of working.
