Dutta began his career as a painter in 1983, after graduating from the Indian Art
College (Kolkata) with diploma in Visual Arts. His first solo titled "˜Landscape', held
at Academy of fine Arts, earned rave reviews from artists and journalists alike, and
announced his arrival into the elite class of masters of the contemporary art. Dutta
captured the immediacy and openness of rustic life in his native village through
subtle yet fluid motions, bringing his keenly detailed observational mannerism to the
forefront. Over the years, he has moved from one medium to another, from Oil
Painting, Water Colour, Pen and Ink to Acrylic, with characteristic fluency.
