Carmine Leta has experimented with different art ‘languages’ and techniques, creating videos, installations, and performances focused on the processes of ‘symbolization’ and use of the concepts of emptiness, utopia, and both individual and collective identity. Latterly, his research has focused on sculpture, mainly in filo-di-ferro (wire), aimed at achieving the subtraction of that material’s own constituent elements: its weight, its staticness, its volume.
This work involves empty, light, and moving objects that can be looked through, inviting the observer to ‘fill’ the only-suggested volume - and to bring into focus the in-fact illusory portion of space between him or herself and the Infinite.

Carmine Leta, graduated from the University of Turin (DAMS) in 2004. His thesis, “Analysis of the concept of Nothingness in the works of Munch and Strindberg between 1890 and 1905” was supervised by Prof. Franca Varallo. He trained with Mauro Biffaro and Emanuela De Cecco at the Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo (FSRR) in Turin, and at the Italian Cultural Institute in Stockholm.
He works as a teacher of Design & History of Art; as an educator and curator of exhibitions and workshops of art and art-therapy; as the assistant of Master Paolo Buggiani; and as a scenography (set-props) technician for film and theatre productions.
