Recurrent themes include vulnerability, transience, youthfulness, and its loss. The sober surfaces of the clothing, pure, minimal, and without detail, confront the expressive, distinctive faces. The resulting works are simple and almost naïve, but at the same time, they have a strong visual and emotional impact. The subject in my paintings is essentially a study of simplicity. Working away all excess material to reach the minimum of an image, and there, in the drawing, finding the subject complete, the image intact. The balance that gives rise to life and motion, the silence unimpeded
