Cherie lives in Toronto, Canada, a modern, diverse city, but within a neighborhood called the Beach. It has more of a small town vibe where she spends her time walking her dogs on the beach and through the ravine. She's also lived in Northern California and spends summers in Muskoka enjoying the beauty and peace in nature. She has a custom-built studio in Muskoka and a shared studio space in Toronto.
Because of her time in California she has been attracted to Diebenkorn and the Bay Area Figurative Movement.
She also admires the abstract impressionists and a Canadian group that was active at the same time, Painters Eleven. Their work is intuitive, bold, and energetic.
She is a mixed media and acrylic abstract painter. Her studio is in Toronto, Canada.
She has studied with individual art teachers dedicated to abstract work and figurative work and also spent one year in a full time adult art program at Central Technical Collegiate. Many fine Canadian painters had their beginnings at this school or taught here.
