Cheryl Radetsky

Born in Boston, did my intense career-building stint in NYC, then headed west. I now live and work in southern California, in a place between the mountains and the sea.

My art is about women stepping into their power; becoming whole and connected to their deepest selves. I paint women crazy in love with their imperfect lives. And those searching for a connection to something deeper. My work is about the journey of embracing the hidden and sacred and most powerful parts of ourselves. For some it looks like invincible self-confidence. For others, it's the raw honesty of our vulnerability and yearning. It's that place where our humanity feels most alive...where we feel most like the selves we were meant to be.

I am forever grateful that my paintings serve as touchstones and totems to my collectors. May they see the beauty in themselves and the power in their journey that I see on the canvas.

It's about what you'd expect for someone who majored in biochemistry. Then law. Then spent a decade as a 'creative' on Madison Avenue.

My path was not a straight line. Clearly. I stumbled and fell, altered direction, and stumbled and fell a whole lot more. In retrospect, it all makes perfect sense why I couldn't be the painter I wanted to be decades ago. Quite simply, I needed to travel the territory of love and loss before I could paint about putting the broken pieces together in a way that is more beautiful and powerful than one could have ever envisioned.

Artists are often asked what inspires them. For me, it's the beauty of the resilient spirit. It's the grace of growing into our true selves to become all we are meant to be. I paint to inspire others; to remind them of their beauty and strength.
