After painting for 25 years, the past three have been the most successful of Chip Southworth's life, enabling him to become a full-time artist and with four successful exhibitions in two years he is emerging as one of Florida's top talents. His large-scale portraits and figurative work serves as advocacy as much as provocative fine art in a post-modern contemporary sense that is cutting edge, abstract and painterly. Working mostly on wood panels, Chip combines his signature drawings with layers upon layers of large and exciting brush strokes, splashes and abstract applications of color to create pieces that are bold, free and full of emotion. Chip resides in the CoRK Arts District near downtown Jacksonville, Florida; is married and has three boys.
Studied Fine Art at FSU; Bachelors from University of North Florida. Studied digital design at Art Institute of Jacksonville. Served as apprentice to Master Artist Roland Hockett in 1991 and 1992. Chip decided to end his design career to pursue painting full-time in 2013.
Chip is also a renowned street artist.
