Christine Marie Davis

I come from a long line of junk dealers and love to collect odd and unusual objects. As a child I was bored in rural Ohio, so my mother gave me art materials and told me to "make something.” And I’ve never stopped. Making art keeps my boredom demons at bay.

I’ve always felt a bit off myself and so I gravitate toward the bizarre and strange. When I begin a piece, I hunt for found objects and materials that are rich in surface texture and inviting to touch; materials such as hair, fur, leather, wax, rubber, ceramic, glass, and metal.

I assemble these and hopefully that process leads to an invented object that is strange but familiar, cute and funny, but a bit “off.”
