I’m Claudia Du XinZhu (新竹), a Chinese oil painting artist living and working in rural New Zealand. I have a Bachelor of Fine Arts and love exploring the world. My passion for nature, culture and different forms of art eventually led me to Aotearoa - my creative home.
I specialise in creating impasto semi-abstract landscape oil paintings and portraitures on paper. My art reflects my experiences and perception of the world. I draw inspiration from the natural beauty of New Zealand, my travels, the cultures I encounter, the people I meet, and the emotions I experience.
Each artwork I create is an opportunity to experiment with colours, textures, and patterns, and to continue learning, growing, and pushing my artistic boundaries. As I travel and experience more of the world, I am increasingly convinced that despite our outward differences and diverse cultures, we're all connected at our core. It's precisely our differences and complexities that make the world so exhilarating.
Through my work, I aim to inspire and connect with people. My goal is to convey movement, emotions, and tender moments rooted in memories, fostering a sense of connection and creating an evocative and pleasurable sensory experience for viewers.
