Alka Jha

Hi I am Alka , a self learnt Indian folk artist who loves mixing traditional patterns and motifs with modern elements in her paintings. I started Madhubani as a means to meditative painting and as a way to deal with stress . I draw inspiration from mythology, Indian folk tales and day to day lives. Fish and birds are the central characters in most of my paintings. I love exploring various techniques on a variety of media, from oil and acrylic paints on canvas, to pen and watercolour on paper. I enjoy practising various Indian folk art forms namely Madhubani, Warli and Gond.
I bear the idea of art being a continual learning process, offering a new experience every day, where I am not just working towards an end, but enjoying the means, the delightful journey, along the way.
