I use my craft to feed my fascination for the kitsch objects and ornaments that normally collect in my Nan’s house. Whether it be through a giant gummy bear adorned with Spice Girls lyrics or a reinterpretation of a ceramic poodle bearing witness to my relationship with my mum, I explore the ‘granny kitsch’ ornaments and I aim to entertain and arouse both excitement and nostalgia in my viewer.
My seemingly fun and light-hearted work acts as a preface to lull my audience into a false sense of security with each object tackling much darker issues, from child poverty to sexuality and social status to class and identity.
