I was originally inspired to begin experimenting with aluminum and various alloys by some of the well known abstract artists in the industry, but wanted to push the limits of the medium by adding more intricate details. I enjoy macro photography and minimalism in art, and wanted to fill that void in the aluminum art niche. I think modern collectors can really connect with the use of metal for fine art because it feels familiar in our tech-savvy culture. The art speaks for itself - it doesn’t need deep, poetic significance. It’s in a category of its own. It’s unique. It’s eye-catching. Viewers experience this dynamic, tone-changing, 3-dimensional effect from something 2-dimensional, and people are enamoured by it. I believe if you enjoy what you see, if a piece calls to you and you can connect with the content, you should seriously consider adding it to your collection.
None of what I create is done by a machine or a computer. I create each piece by hand with various sizes and textures of grinding discs and abrasives, and complete the finished product with a coat of epoxy resin for added depth.
