Dina Abele

My name is Dina Ābele, I was born in 1969 in Riga, Latvia in a family of artists. Educated in Riga, graduated applied Arts Secondary School and afterwards the Graphic department of Art Academy of Latvia (BFA - 1994, MFA - 1997). Have been taking part in exhibitions since 1991, working in the Art Academy of Latvia as a drawing teacher, the associate professor in Department of Drawing and working in book design field. I draw and paint. Drawing and painting has been my passion since my childhood. When the colour touches the canvas, it is the moment out of time, out of everyday routine. A moment when all attention is concentrated in a line, form and story, its tension, movement, mood, ease and secret. That is happiness. Whether we like it or not, all we experience – inspires us. Events and relationship around us affects us, the way we think, what we do and how we do it. In my work I would like to tell stories that delight, cheer, encourage not to lose hope in finding time interconnections with each other – for talks, for searching, for silence.
