Dawn Beckles

I am a self-taught artist who seeks to weave threads of memory, emotion, and nostalgia into the fabric of my work. My still life paintings are not merely representations, but rather, they are poignant narratives that echo with the reverberations of life lived and experienced.

My work bridges two worlds – the vibrancy of my Caribbean roots and the eclectic energy of my London life. This duality becomes a prism through which the familiar is seen in a new light, and the mundane is transformed into the extraordinary. I seek to capture the often-overlooked beauty that resides within the everyday – the untold stories of objects, spaces, and moments that silently shape our existence.

Through the use of bold colors and assertive brush strokes, I strive to convey the life force pulsating within these silent observers. Each painting is an attempt to arrest a fleeting moment, to harness its energy, and transpose it onto canvas, creating a conduit through which the viewer may reconnect with their own past and present.My art, at its core, is an homage to the beauty and richness of life.
