Douglas Gilbert

My drawings are abstract, figurative, and expressionistic, radiating a sensual, electric, and spiritual energy that transcends subject matter. Influenced by nature, quantum physics, mythology, and the human condition, each image emerges from the convergence of thousands of visible straight lines.

The textural density of the line work invites viewers to lose themselves in its apparent randomness, opening moments for contemplation and connection. I see each line as a particle, coming together by chance or design, to become something greater than itself.

This labor-intensive process allows me to become fully immersed in the act of drawing. I invite viewers to look close, so they, too, can become absorbed in the unpredictable intricacies of each piece. In those moments, I aim to spark reflection and emotional resonance.
