Elena Franklin

As an artist I’m passionate about experimentation with found objects, rich textures, intriguing shapes, and creating works that blur the edges between painting and sculpture.
The main purpose for me is to create unique world out of chaos. I treat found objects and colour shapes as seemingly unrelated units in need of unification and reincarnation on the working surface.
Originally from Russia I have been living in UK since 1996. I’ve started my art education in St. Petersburg, continued in Moscow, London and Brighton where I’ve gained my Master’s Degree in Illustration at the University of Brighton.
Moving to Oxford in 2009 opened a new chapter in my artistic career. Working at the University of Oxford on the part-time basis gives me the opportunity to be a part of the intellectual and creative community.
Being a member of the Cygnets Art group since 2000, I've shown my work in many galleries around the UK, including London, Middlesex, Hertfordshire, Buckinghamshire, and Oxfordshire.
