Elena Márquez Bonny

Painting is a place where I go to ask myself questions. I reflect on human existence, the world and my relationship with others.
My work stems from my own experiences previously caught on film. I am interested in those which reveal uncertainty, restlessness. Anonymous subjects heading somewhere I can´t imagine. I then manipulate them digitally and finally reproduce them on canvas.
My paintings aim to reinvent reality. A free and limitless reality. And this is where the materiality of paint, and the relationship between colours, shapes, textures, and transparencies becomes vital
The object of my work is to move the observer... to provoke them... to challenge them
