Elizabeth Williams was born in Washington DC and received her BFA in Painting from the San Francisco Art Institute, where she won the Winsor & Newton Painting Award. Inspired by life and nature, her work is process-oriented and intuitive. Spontaneity and chance are integral to her desire to express the subtleties and rawness of emotion. She allows color to slide, drizzle, pool and blend into spontaneous compositions, swirling stains merging, obscuring and revealing her marks or gestures.
